2008 Rescue 3 International Instructor Update

Instructors Brent Jones and Trey Smith have just returned from their annual Rescue 3 International Instructor Update in Front Royal, Va. The meeting gave instructors from across Virginia and North Carolina the opportunity to share new ideas and experiences. Instructor Trainer George Lewis shared with the group several new changes coming to the Rescue 3 programs for 2008. Some new changes include:

  • New Quality Assurance Program Implentation

  • Annual Physical Fitness qualifications For SRT Instructors

  • Quality Assurance Inspection Program

  • Instructor Mentoring Program

  • Re-structuring of Instructor Titles 

  • New Student Taskbooks for those seeking NFPA

Shane Williams receives instructor certification with Rescue 3 International.

We would like to congratulate Shane Williams of the Jackson County rescue Squad and Owner of the Dillsboro River company in becoming North Carolina's newest Rescue 3 International Swiftwater and technical rope rescue instructor. Shane has dedicated hundreds of hours of training in preparation of the 4-day instructor candidate evaluation course. Great Job!


Rescue N.C welcomes our newest instructor
Travis Hedden.

After 4 long years of training and taking fire & rescue courses around the Macon County area, FF/ EMT Travis Hedden of the Otto Fire Dept. who serves as a regular class assistant for Rescue NC courses has become the newest Rescue Technician Instructor certified by the N.C. Office of the State Fire Marshall's Office. Travis is currently seeking his EMT-Intermediate certification then plans to go for the EMT Paramedic later next year!
