Rescue 3 International Operations Courses

Swiftwater First Responder
This two-day course is designed to provide
students with both a theoretical and practical knowledge of the basics of
swiftwater rescue. The class includes one day of classroom instruction and one
day of practical field exercise. Students are trained in hazard recognition,
equipment use, and basic shore and boat-based rescue techniques, as well as a
wide variety of other skills, including:

accepted criteria for determining risk/benefit decisions
-
effecting a shore-based aquatic rescue using generally
accepted reach and throw techniques
-
in-water self-rescue and safety techniques
-
how to deal with basic water-related medical emergencies
-
understanding the application of water rescue techniques
using commonly available fire service equipment
-
basic boat-based rescue concerns and techniques
-
basic moving water self-rescue techniques
After completing the course, certified
personnel may participate in higher risk, technical water rescues under the
supervision of technician level rescuers.
This course will assist your agency in meeting the Operations level for NFPA
1670 standard for water incidents. Students are also trained in performing self-rescue techniques.
After
completion of Operations: Swiftwater First Responder™, certified personnel
may participate in higher risk technical rescues under the supervision of
Technician level rescuers.

Full wetsuit or drysuit for thermal and abrasion protection
-
Lightweight water or climbing helmet
-
Lifejacket/PFD with USCG Type III or V rating
-
Water booties or tennis shoes
-
Gloves and fins (optional)
Cost:
Due to the sponsorship of local community colleges, most of our Rescue 3 Int.
courses are offered at a reduced rate. The shared costs between the community
college and the student are 25% lower than the Rescue 3 Corporate rate.

Technical Rope Rescue: Operations Level ™ (TRR:OL)
This is a 24 hour course which provides
students with the fundamentals of rope rescue. The class consists of one day of
classroom instruction followed by two days of practical field exercise. Students
learn and practice all areas of rope rescue in a low-angle environment and are
trained in such skills as:

preplanning and size-up of rope rescue operations
-
knots, hitches, and anchor systems
-
belay operations
-
ascending and descending lines mechanical advantage systems
-
raising anil lowering systems
-
patient packaging & litter attending
Students will leam how to safely navigate low-angle or
over-the-bank rescue situations and assist rescuers in high-angle environments.
This course meets the requirements for the NFPA 1670 standard at the
Operations level for technical rope incidents. This three-day course has
one day of classroom instruction followed by two days of practical field
exercise.
Training
includes pre-planning and size up of rope rescue operations; knots, bends,
hitches and anchor systems; belay operations; ascending and descending
lines; mechanical advantage systems; patient packaging; and litter tending.
Students will learn how to safely handle low-angle or over-the bank type
situations, as well as, how to assist Technician level rope rescuers
in high angle environments. Special emphasis is placed on maintaining the
safety of rescuers, patients and bystanders.
