Swiftwater Rescue Technician I Courses
Students attending a 3-day consecutive SRT I class at the Swain Center of
Southwestern Community College are encouraged to obtain lodging in the Bryson
City region as this is close to the lecture site and approximately 15 miles from
the training sites of the river.

Swiftwater Rescue Technician Advanced Courses
Our SRT Advanced courses are very fluid with respect to the training site
locations. Because the courses are taught in the Bryson City, Dillsboro regions,
as well as, the Nantahala and the Tuckasegee Rivers, students should consider
lodging in the Cherokee tribal Reservation as this is the half-way point between
training sites such as Cherokee or Bryson City.
Technical Rope Rescue / Confined Space Rescue
(Cherokee/Sylva/ Dillsboro, Bryson City NC Area)
As with our Rescue 3 SRT Advanced course, the TRR-TL class taught within
the Cherokee tribal region is very fluid in the locations where rescue
evolutions are conducted. Students are encouraged to setup their lodging in
Cherokee.
Technical Rope Rescue
(Highlands, NC Area)
The TRR-TL course taught in Highlands are conducted exclusively at the Mountain
Retreat and Learning Center in Highlands, N.C. All lodging and meals are
included in the price for staying at the retreat. Students are discouraged from
staying in other locations.
